Edenwald Senior Living and Wesley SecureCare Announce Affiliation Agreement

TOWSON, MARYLAND – Today, Edenwald Senior Living and Wesley SecureCare formerly The Wesley at Home announced they would be entering into a shared services agreement which will be the first step in a discussed affiliation.

Wesley SecureCare is the only licensed Continuing Care at Home program approved by the Maryland Department of Aging.  It became licensed for Baltimore County and Baltimore City in July 2022 and intends to grow its program across the State of Maryland.

Edenwald is a single site Life Plan Community (aka Continuing Care Retirement Community) located in Towson Maryland, adjacent to Goucher College.  Edenwald recently announced its plans to expand its campus in collaboration with Goucher College to create Maryland’s first University Retirement Community.

Both Wesley and Edenwald recognize that with the demographic shift that is occurring, and the exponential growth of those over the age of 65, to meet the needs of the community it is necessary to be creative and develop new ways to serve those looking to thrive wherever they choose to call home.

“We began talks with Wesley SecureCare in 2022 with the hopes of entering the Continuing Care at Home market in partnership with their organization.  As they have developed and grown their program, we’re excited about this opportunity to enable them to expand across the State of Maryland and offer more options for individuals, in how they want to live and thrive in their later years,” said Mark Beggs, President and CEO of Edenwald.

“This partnership allows us to expand the services that we offer to members of our program. It also provides members the benefits and enrichment that comes from living in a Life Plan Community while still living in their own homes, said Dr. Amanda Young, Executive Director of Wesley SecureCare.”

“We are committed to empowering individuals to live life on their own terms, and we recognize that not everyone can afford or has a desire to live in a Life Plan Community, so having this affiliation with Wesley SecureCare enables us to support each individual in how they choose to live, which is incredibly important to our organization and our board of directors,” Beggs said.

“Wesley SecureCare and Edenwald share a common mission to help older adults thrive, and by working together we can amplify that mission and serve more people. We are one of the few Continuing Care at Home programs across the country that is not tied to a brick and mortar community, so having a partner like Edenwald provides us with more resources and opportunities to carry out our mission,” Young said.

The shared services agreement and affiliation will enable members of the Continuing Care at Home program to access the services, amenities and support available through the Edenwald community, to include access to higher levels of care and future programming with Goucher College and an existing relationship with The Osher Lifelong Learning Program at Towson University.
